FIND ME OTHER PLACES:
Let’s Connect
It all started with Barry Manilow…
Growing up in the frozen tundra of Michigan, I quickly learned how to channel my creativity to survive the long winters.
Now, I’ve traded snow for sunshine and live in the tropical (read: hot!) state of Florida with my family, which includes three tiny humans and two Boston Terriers.
When I’m not busy swimming, playing video games, or listening to Taylor Swift on repeat, you might find me holding a sloth. (Yes, it’s as amazing as it sounds.)
The box of old journals under my bed says I’ve been writing for about 30 years. Ten-year-old Ashlee would think it’s very cool that I now get paid actual dollars to do this.
The Barry Manilow Connection
The writing bug officially bit me in ninth grade when Mr. Vincent (shout out to the real MVP!) assigned us to write about our favorite song. I picked Barry Manilow’s “Copacabana” and felt my first writing high when I crafted the perfect hook.
That moment shaped my love for storytelling and my belief in the power of a well-chosen word.
Confession: My favorite novella is Shopgirl, and I would absolutely consider committing a litany of crimes to share a meal with Steve Martin.
Why I Write
Writing isn’t just what I do—it’s who I am. It’s how I connect with the world and help others do the same.
Since 2012, I’ve been an Autism Advocate (thanks to my son Liam, who also supplies me with an endless stream of dad jokes), and I’ve learned that every story deserves to be told in a way that resonates.
Professionally, I’ve had the privilege of linking arms with small businesses and entrepreneurs to help them find their voice and tell their stories.
Whether it’s through a standout brand identity, witty email campaigns, or engaging website copy, my goal is to make words work for you.
A Few Fun Facts
I’m obsessed with sloths. Holding one = life goals achieved.
Best lyricist ever = Taylor Swift
My dream dinner guest? Steve Martin (see above).
If you see me without coffee, assume it’s not actually me.
Kansas City is the best NFL team. Period.
So, that’s me—Ashlee, the Barry Manilow-inspired word nerd who’s here to help you connect, inspire, and thrive.
Let’s create something amazing together.
